This is our RS/SS Convertible
|
We picked this car up at Hot August Nights in Reno two years
ago. The car was already painted with the interior done. The guy we baught it
from was a body guy. He wasn't very mechanical and the car needed massive amounts
of mechanical work done. The first few drives we went on with it we couldn't
figure out why the car had no power. He had told us that it was a brand new crate
motor and he had done all kinds of trick stuff to it.
|
He had the throttle so miss adjusted he wasn't even getting half.
We fixed that and took it out for a drive. It was two hundred percent better. But
it still had massive power loss. The carb was almost three full turns out of
adjustment. That worked really well once we got it all dialed in. Then we decided
to takle the suspension. The car actually was higher in the left front than any
other part of the car by more than 1/4 of an inch. We took the springs out of the
front and leveled them off. He had taken a coil off of the right front but not the
left.
|
Once we got them back in the car still sat all crooked. Someone
had tried to jack the back of the car up by the leaf spring. They put the plate
on the jack about four inches in front of the rear mounts and bent the crap out
of them. So we took those off and had them re-arced. Now the car sits really good
and runs great. In fact I drove it home from Hot August Nights when we got it and
this past one drove it there and back. The car feels like a gem.
